Virginia Wedding Photographers | Best of Weddings 2018

As another year comes to a close, we are shocked to be writing this blog again and recapping another wedding season. This year marks our 4th full wedding season as a husband and wife, Virginia wedding photographers and each year just keeps getting better and better. 2018 flew by in the blink of an eye, but we did manage to capture a few memories for our couples along the way. We were honored to be a part of 12 couples wedding days and we’re so thankful for everyone of them. Only 4 of our weddings this year were local, while the rest of them were across the state of Virginia, with one amazing trip to Callawassie Island, South Carolina. We delivered more images to our clients than ever before and spent more time fostering those relationships than we have in the past.

When we found out we were expecting a little one last year, we knew that we wanted to take on less weddings this year so that we wouldn’t be spending too much time away from him during his first year of life. As inquiries came in, we prayed about each one to make sure they were the best fit for us before saying yes. We were so thankful for all of our couples that we said yes to this year because they, more than any other year, truly became friends of ours along the way. They watched us become parents for the first time and watched as our little man grew throughout his first year of life. They congratulated us during each milestone and cheered us on along the way. Almost every single one of them asked us, on their wedding day, how Isaiah was doing and said how much they enjoyed seeing photos and videos of him online. The encouragement and support from our couples throughout this year has been so important to us.

We are so thankful that we are in the business of capturing memories and building relationships with people; not just making money. While wedding photography obviously helps support our family, the relationships that we’ve built with our clients are some of our favorite relationships in our lives. We are so blessed that God has chosen us to capture beautiful memories for our clients and build real friendships with people we otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: we LOVE our job. We’re so thankful God has tasked us with it.

Though I could continue to go on about how amazing all of our 2018 clients were, here is our look back on yet another amazing wedding season with our Rowlands Photography couples, starting with some of our favorite bridal detail images.

From emotional first looks to reading letters from one another on opposite sides of a door, these special moments of a wedding day are always some of our favorites to capture for our couples. These moments are raw, unrehearsed, and real. These are the memories you remember, 50 years after your wedding day.

In minutes before our couples become husband & wife, there is so much anticipation. Some grooms cry, while others are able to hold it together. No matter the reaction, the ceremony is beginning and they are both in disbelief that they are finally here, exchanging vows and rings, and about to become husband & wife.

The wedding party is where the party actually starts!

We’ve got to hand it to our couples when we say that they choose the best people to surround themselves with on their wedding days. We have met so many amazing bridesmaids and groomsmen this year. So much love for these couples and so many devoted friends that will do anything to make sure their day goes off without a hitch. Not to mention, check out how well they all clean up! We really had a blast with every wedding party this year.

Our brides and grooms this year were SO attractive! Now, we know it’s their wedding day and they are dressed to the nines for the occasion, but we really feel like each and every one of them had a glow about them. We found ourselves saying over and over again about our brides that they were “made to be a bride.” Every one of them was drop dead gorgeous. And the grooms cleaned up so well too. We loved the time we got to spend on portraits for each of them. Our couples are notorious for making our jobs too easy.

Their first portraits as husband & wife! Our favorite time of the day! This is when our relationship that we’ve been building with them really shines because we often don’t have as much time as we would like to do portraits for them. As we run through our normal, expected poses, we love when we catch them in their natural element, just flirting with one another. It’s such a sweet time and try to capture just how giddy they are to finally be Mr. & Mrs. We love our couples so much and a part of us is really sad when this time comes to and end because we know that the end of their wedding day is not far behind.

Is it really the end of a wedding day if you don’t have a grand exit? Sparklers, bubbles or birdseed, it doesn’t matter. These moments are always so fun to capture for our couples because you see the true excitement they feel and the faces of their friends and family surrounding them as they send them off to start their new life together.
