Although the weather was not looking promising leading up to their big day, the rain held off and Shelby & Thomas were able to exchange their vows for their outdoor ceremony at the beautiful Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia. It was lush green all through the grounds and roses were blooming near their intimate ceremony spot. We couldn’t pick a better venue for an outdoor spring wedding!
Lewis Ginter has played a key role in Shelby & Thomas’ relationship over the years that it just felt right being there on their wedding day. Shelby & Thomas are coming up on 8 years together and they have had their fair share of memories in the beautiful gardens. Not only did we get to snap their engagement photos there last fall, but it’s actually where Thomas proposed to Shelby and where they spent many date nights over the years.
Surrounded by just around 40 of their closest friends and family, Shelby & Thomas exchanged vows on beautiful, May afternoon in a location that meant more to them than we know. We were so thankful to be there to capture their precious moments and hope that we might be able to return to Lewis Ginter sometime soon!
Take a look at some of our favorite images from their big day!
Could Shelby have picked a better bouquet for her venue location? Lewis Ginter is beautiful and her bouquet complimented the lush greens and vibrant pinks in the flowers around the gardens.
First looks will always be our very favorite 🙂
Shelby & Thomas also chose to exchange letters during this time and it was so sweet. Intimate. Private. These moments are just for the bride and groom.
It’s always great when we get to bring the bridal party together before the ceremony. Not only do we get to knock out a lot of their portraits, but we also get to shake off any ceremony nerves and have fun with the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
We would imagine that Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is stunning year-round, but we think that Shelby picked the perfect time to get married at this beautiful venue. All the greenery was lush and the roses were blooming. This stone ceremony spot was the perfect place for them to exchange vows in front of their honored guests.
It’s official! The new Mr. & Mrs. VanStavern!
Shelby & Thomas had a small, intimate wedding. All guests that were present were either family or very close friends and so their reception was able to be held in the cafe area of Lewis Ginter. Check out how cute these little cafe tables are!
Announcing for the first time…
Time to dance!
