Las Vegas Red Rock Canyon State Park Wedding | Nevada Wedding Photographer
To be completely honest, we never thought we would be writing a blog with “Las Vegas wedding photographer” or “Red Rock Canyon wedding” in it. As two east coast photographers, we never thought our job would take us across the country to the beautiful state of Nevada. But boy, are we glad it did.
The bride, Joanny, is a dear friend and former coworker of mine from the retail world and we’ve remained friends over the years and distance as we’ve both moved around. One of my favorite memories with Joanny was about 5 years ago when she told me during one of our shifts together that, “one day, when I get married on a mountain top somewhere, it’s just going to be me, the guy, the wedding officiant, and you, photographing it all.” Well, her wedding day looked a tiny bit different than that, but the main details are the same. Joanny & Dillion opted to have an elopement style wedding in Las Vegas and portraits at Red Rock Canyon State Park with their beautiful bridal party and Dillion’s parents present. Although they didn’t end up getting married on a mountain top, a canyon, with a spectacular view of the mountains and desert surrounding count, right? We think so.
We started the day with them at Mandalay Bay Resorts in Las Vegas as they got ready for their wedding ceremony. As the girls rushed around the room getting their hair and makeup done, I couldn’t help but stop and think on several occasions how thankful I was to be capturing these memories for my dear friend. Anyone who knows Joanny knows she is golden. She is authentic, joyful, giving and driven. She lights up any room she walks into. She loves with her whole heart and she is a dedicated friend, and now wife! Although we were just meeting Dillion for the first time, it was so clear to see the love between these two. Dillion completes Joanny in a way that a husband should complete his wife. He is funny, lighthearted, caring and everything that Joanny needs in a spouse. We were admittedly so thankful to know Joanny had chosen someone like Dillion to be her husband.
Without further adieu, here is the beginning of Joanny & Dillion’s wedding day…
Joanny & Dillion opted to do a first look before the wedding ceremony and we’re so glad they did. This little nook of the hotel was almost completely deserted and it was a beautiful location for their sweet first look.
Off to the wedding chapel we go!
If this face doesn’t say “I’m excited to marry her,” I don’t know what does.
Because of Las Vegas’ regulations at the particular chapel they got married at, Joanny & Dillion were not allowed to have outside photographers shoot their wedding. So for the first time in a long time, we actually got to SIT during a wedding ceremony! Although we wished we could have photographed the exchanging of vows between them, we did get to whisk them away after the ceremony to the dreamiest location ever for their husband & wife portraits!
Although Joanny could have had double or triple this number of girls to stand beside her on her wedding day, she was able to narrow it down to her sister, her cousin and 4 of her closest friends. Dillion chose to have his dad as his best man and two friends to stand alongside him as groomsmen.
Doesn’t Joanny look like she was just MADE to be a bride? I mean, come on girl!
More husband & wife portraits because this location begged for them.
Yes, we did gasp when we saw that this view was real.
Congratulations Joanny & Dillion! We love you both so much and wish you the best in your marriage!
We hope you loved looking through the highlights from this Red Rock Canyon wedding in Las Vegas, NV.
