When you’re a full-time wedding photographer, it can be hard to make the time to put yourself in front of the camera. When you’re a full-time husband & wife photographer team, it’s even harder. Since Isaiah has been born, we’ve taken thousands and thousands of pictures of him, but not many of those photos include the three of us. The struggle of being a photographer is that you’re always behind the camera and rarely in front of it. While we’re typically okay with that, now that we have a little guy, we trying to make a conscience effort to spend more time as a little family of three in front of the camera. Because before we know it, these days will be long gone and we’ll be sending Isaiah off to college. We don’t want to look back and regret not having more pictures of the three of us, so we reached out to our friend Sarah, with SB Photographs, and had her capture some family photos of us while Isaiah is still tiny(ish).
If you know our story at all, you know that Isaiah’s birth did not go according to plan. Although how he arrived in the world was not how we originally planned, we have now have a happy, healthy 8 month old boy who we adore and can’t remember what life was like before him. He has so much joy, it’s kind of unbelievable. He smiles more than he cries, is so adventurous now that he’s learned to crawl and climb up on things and he really just makes parenting so fun. Although I had hoped to do monthly updates on the blog about Isaiah, lack of time and prioritizing quality time with Isaiah determined that I wouldn’t be able to manage that each month. We do post updates on my personal Facebook as well as on our Instagram, if you’d like to follow along with us. We’re so thankful for our little man and feel so blessed to call him ours.
We had a great time hanging out with Sarah and being in front of the camera for a change. We got to take some family photos as well as some updated shots for our website and cutesy couple photos with my favorite guy. It was a great shoot at Oak Grove Park and Sarah did wonderful with us. What you don’t see is that it was like 95 degrees this day with 1000% humidity. Isaiah was fussy because it was hot and he was wearing more clothes than he’s ever worn and we were all sweating so much. And as much as I thought I was killing the mom game by waiting to put him in his outfit until we got to the park so he wouldn’t get it slobbery or destroy it with a bowel movement on the way to the shoot, I completely forgot his shoes at home and so he went barefoot the whole time. I guess it wouldn’t make sense if I had everything figured out with my first baby. This is real life for you.
All in all though, we are completely obsessed with every single one of these photos and so thankful for Sarah’s talent that captured these beautiful memories for us. Be sure to check out her work!
