Kristi & Edward’s wedding day was an absolutely beautiful autumn day.
Last Saturday, we made our way to Littleton, North Carolina to a beautiful plot of land that is owned by Kristi’s family. She and her siblings have countless memories growing up on this land, which made their outdoor, backyard ceremony that much more special. As we wandered the grounds, we were so pleased to see that autumn had visited their trees in a beautiful way. The soft yellows and oranges found across the pond in their backyard made for the perfect backdrop for their portraits. Their day was so calm and relaxed that we were surprised when the day came to an end.
Kristi & Edward are one of those couples that you can see how much they mean to one another by their interactions. Not only did they giggle throughout almost all of their portraits, but the way that they care for one another in the in-between moments makes it apparent that they love one another deeply. Kristi is the sister of one of our former grooms and we were beyond excited when she inquired with us. We knew that their wedding day would be beautiful, relaxed and so very special. We were honored to be a part of their day and to capture memories for another member of their sweet family.
Here are some of our favorites from their day…
Kristi emailed me the week of her wedding to tell me about this next photo. She had written to Brett Eldredge many months prior, asking if he would be willing to hand write the lyrics to his song, “Mean To Me,” that was going to be Kristi & Edward’s first dance song. After months of not knowing if he would write back, she received a package at her home on the Monday prior to her wedding with this beautiful gift inside. Kristi couldn’t believe the timing of the package and was beyond excited to present it to her groom (you’ll see that later). Isn’t that the sweetest thing?
Yet another adorable first look!
Kristi then presented Edward with the handwritten lyrics in a beautiful frame.
These two giggled through most of their bride & groom portraits. Seeing the genuine joy that they bring to one another was so sweet to witness.
Isn’t Kristi just stunning? Her gown was beautiful and so perfect for her. We also loved her flower crown and choice of bouquet.
Kristi & Edward’s wedding party was by far our largest so far. Kristi had 16 bridesmaids and Edward had 8 groomsmen, plus 4 littles! Although we had quite a time fitting them ALL into one big group photo, we couldn’t help but marvel at the support that these two have for their marriage. What a blessing to have so many people love and care for you and pray over your marriage regularly. So sweet!
Their outdoor ceremony took place on their families property, in front of this beautiful treeline. As the clouds came and went, we had glimpses of the golden sun throughout the ceremony. We loved this backyard ceremony for its simplicity and its beauty.
Kristi & Edward chose to have their sweet dog, Benji, featured in the ceremony as well. You may remember Benji from their engagement session in which he wore an adorbale sign that said, “I loved her first.”
This was, by far, one of our favorite exits of all-time!
Once the sun had set and the ceremony concluded, guests meandered into the covered tent for dinner and dancing. The night had a slight chill, but it was beautiful fall night.
Time to dance!
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Casteen!
Michael & Chelsea
