Anytime we get to stay local for a session for one of our couples, we love it. Molly & Glenn chose to have their session around historic downtown Suffolk because it’s home to them and has huge significance to their relationship. Each street has brick buildings, centuries old churches and tons of visual history. Plus, it’s literally two blocks from our house, so we get walk right out our front door and basically start shooting. When you live in Suffolk, you get used to driving into Chesapeake or Virginia Beach for most photo shoots, so it’s refreshing when we don’t have to.
We loved photographing these two to commemorate their engagement period before their September wedding. Molly is the sister of our brother-in-law, so we’re all basically family now. Capturing Molly & Glenn’s love was so easy. All we had to say was, “just interact how you would normally,” and the real smiles, nuzzles and laughs came out. Would you believe that it was mid-90’s on this day? The humidity in Virginia continues to be our least favorite thing about our state, but we all pushed through it and came out with some wonderful pictures. We’re so excited for these two to get married in two short months!
At this point in the session, we ventured back to our house so that Molly & Glenn could change into their second outfits. Once they did, we walked back up Market Street to our favorite set of trees on the block.
The Suffolk Cultural Arts Center is one of prettiest buildings in downtown Suffolk and it’s must-have spot for any of our Suffolk sessions. We lucked out half way through these photos when the fountain lights kicked on. Talk about some golden light!
