When you choose to have an outdoor, autumn wedding in Virginia, you pray for the weather that Hannah & DJ had on their wedding day. At The Estate at White Hall in King George, it was a beautiful 75 degrees with a cool breeze that seemed to wrap around the grounds all day long. When we arrived for the day, Hannah & DJ’s ceremony space was set up below the vast trees and everyone was buzzing about getting the final details in place before the couple was to walk down the aisle.
Inside the bridal suite, the girls were chatting and drinking champagne from their personalized flutes as Hannah was finishing up her hair and makeup. The estate was beautiful with it’s hardwood floors, white walls & lavish rooms. As the dusty blue bridesmaids dresses and Hannah’s asymmetrical wedding gown hung on their hangers, the overall feel of the day was at an obvious ease. Although there were last minute details being finished up outside, Hannah was calm and ready to marry her groom.
Hannah & DJ have known each other for 11 years and dated for 7 years. They had spent a large portion of their lives growing up together. Through high school, to college, to law school, they have spent much of their lives together. DJ even said in his vows to Hannah, “sometimes, I don’t remember me before you. It’s been us for as long as I can remember.” Though most couples might go into their wedding day with slightly cold feet, it was clear that that was not the case with these two. We can’t think of a better way to sum up their wedding day than to borrow Hannah’s words from her vows:
“My feet are warm. My heart is full. My soul is home.”
If you haven’t considered doing a first look with your bridesmaids, do it! Even though your girls are with you as you’re getting your makeup done and preparing for the day, most of them have not seen you in your complete bridal look. This time is so sweet for our brides and their maids as well as a great boost of confidence right before she heads down the aisle.
Exchange letters on your wedding day. You won’t regret it.
Doesn’t Hannah just look like she was made to be a bride?
It’s time to get these two married!
It’s reception time. Isn’t this barn just dreamy?
These two were gracious enough to let us steal them away from their reception (and meal) to do some sunset portraits before the day turned to night.
Congratulations, Hannah & DJ!
