Our first wedding of 2018 was one for the books! Emily & Nathan got married at the Historic Post Office in Hampton, VA last Sunday and we had the best time celebrating their day with them. Emily chose a wedding theme that was to die for. Mauve pink bridesmaids dresses and lots of elegant, gold, antique elements that had us swooning over her bridal details. For a bride that loves a classic antique theme, the Historic Post Office is the perfect venue! Everything about the venue says, “classic history.” We loved shooting at this new venue for the first time. The bridal suite and groom’s quarters were both so perfectly decorated that we were a bit in awe of the beauty of the venue pre-decorations. Our only complaint is that we got lost through the hallways a number of times during the day.
If you remember from our blog two months ago, Emily & Nathan’s engagement session took place at the Historic Fort Monroe. During their engagement session, they were all smiles. Part of this was probably due to the fact that Nathan had just come home from a deployment, but when it came time for bride & groom portraits, the giddy-smiles came back. Emily & Nathan bring out the best in one another and are such a caring and generous couple. Not only do they treat each other well, but they showered their wedding party with unique, sentimental gifts as a thank you for standing beside them on their big day. They even made us a coffee mug with our logo on it! To say we were blown away would be an understatement.
Emily & Nathan’s wedding was one that we walked away from very tired, but so full of love that we get to do this as a job. Our clients are truly so good to us and we love that we get to be a part of their beautiful love stories. When we left Emily & Nathan’s wedding, we reflected on how great our clients are and how much we love that they chose us. In fact, one of my favorite moments of the day came when I had to tell Emily that we were going to shift some portraits back until after the ceremony and she said to me, “I trust you. I chose you.” That was a moment I’ll never forget. She did choose us! And we are so happy she did because we absolutely loved serving them on their wedding day.
Although I could go on and on, here are some of our favorite images from Emily & Nathan’s big day! Congratulations, you two!
Daddy-daughter looks always bring tears from everyone in the room
This cute little guy is Emily’s new nephew and we had to pull a few tricks to get him to smile, but we caught a few!
Nathan’s time to shine!
And the beautiful bride! Doesn’t her dress look like it was made for her? So pretty!
I feel like we say it about all of our wedding parties (because all of our clients pick the best people to surround themselves on their wedding days), but this wedding party really was so fun! We had so much fun with all of them throughout the day.
Now, we normally don’t include family formals in our blog posts, we just loved this photo that Emily wanted to do of her rings with her mom and grandmother. Between the three of them, there are over 86 years of marriage!
Our favorite time of the day – bride & groom portraits!
