Courtney & Caleb’s wedding at the beautiful Historic Jasmine Plantation will go down as one of our favorite weddings of all-time.
Their day began on an unusually warm, October afternoon in Providence Forge, VA. As the afternoon continued, it seemed as if rain was threatening to dampen their day. However, we were fortunate enough to only get light sprinkles at various times, but nothing to take the joy and excitement away from Courtney & Caleb’s day. Courtney looked like she had stepped out of an old-Hollywood movie and Caleb looked quite dapper in his suit with red wine accents. We love autumn weddings for a number of reasons, but the color palettes are definitely one of them! From the red wine color of the bridesmaid’s dresses to the soft green of the moss and eucalyptus in their bouquets, this wedding theme had us swooning all day long.
We had the joy of getting to know Courtney & Caleb in their element during our first in-home engagement session earlier this year. After meeting them and seeing them at home, we were beyond excited when they told us that they were going to have a literary theme to their wedding. Courtney & Caleb’s sweet love story and affinity for literature were displayed in various ways throughout their day and it was such an honor to capture it all for them. From their “first touch” where they read sweet letters they had written for one another to their to their iconic first dance, these two could not be any more in love or any more perfect for one another. For those that know Courtney & Caleb, you know that there is a deep connection between them and a love that shows just by looking at them. Their joint love of literature that has bonded them from the beginning was on display throughout their reception decorations and their centerpieces were some of the most unique that we have seen. We absolutely love when a couple chooses to make their wedding theme unique to them and their love story, and let me tell you, Courtney & Caleb nailed it.
With one of our longest blogs of the year, we are excited to share some of our favorite images from Courtney & Caleb’s wedding! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Jones!
Aren’t these florals just stunning? We love when we get to work with our friendors, Crafted Stems, because they give us lots of extra blooms and greenery to work with to add a little something extra to our detail shots.
Courtney nailed the “old Hollywood” look perfectly with her dark lips, dark eyes and blonde hair pulled back in a classic up-do. I couldn’t help but think of the 20’s and Daisy Buchanan when I looked at her throughout the day.
Always, always, always choose to do a first look with your dad. It’s such a special moment for both of you.
Caleb & Courtney chose to do a “first touch” just before the ceremony. After contemplating writing their own vows, Caleb said that he always preferred when Courtney read his words rather than when he read them aloud, so they made the decision to write letters to one another instead. Hearing them read each other’s letters to one another was such a special, emotional moment and we’re glad we got to capture it in photo and in video.
Perhaps one of our best-dressed wedding parties. What do you think?
Jasmine Plantation at sunset is so stunning. I mean, look at this light!
When Courtney told us that they were going to have a literary theme, we got so excited. Not only was their idea unique, but it was SO them. After spending time with them during their in-home engagement session, we knew that there was no better theme for their big day. Check out all the cute ways they incorporated their love for books throughout their reception decor.
Introducing for the first time, Mr. & Mrs. Caleb Jones!
We still aren’t completely sure if it was a planned solo or not, but shortly after dinner at the DJ’s request, Courtney took the mic and sang “Son of a Preacher Man” and wowed the crowd. As you can see from the below photo, her new husband was quite amused by her performance 🙂
After toasts, Caleb’s dad did something we have never seen before at a wedding: he knighted Caleb. Although I’d love to recount the story he shared, this is definitely a story that you have to ask Mr. Jones 🙂
Time to dance!
Right before we left for the night, we asked Courtney & Caleb to step out of their reception for a few creative pictures in the dark. Although this venue is beautiful during the day, Jasmine Plantation absolutely comes to life at night and we had to take advantage of some of what it had to offer.
Congratulations to Courtney & Caleb!
