Where did 2016 go?
This year has been absolutely spectacular and we can’t even believe how blessed we are to photograph so many beautiful and amazing couples. As we look back at our favorite images from our 2016 weddings, we are reminded of how honored we are to be a part of someone’s biggest day of their life. Warning: This blog is the longest blog we’ve ever composed. We divided it into sections of the wedding day to help guide you through the photos, but it is still a long one! If you make it to the end, props to you!
Without further adieu, our Best of Weddings 2016!
One of our favorite parts of a wedding day is taking the first hour to photograph all the beautiful bridal details. All the beautiful bouquets, sparkly diamond rings and elegant invitation suites make my heart soar. Below are some of our favorite details that our brides and grooms incorporated into their wedding days. Take a look at all the pretty!
We love when brides ask their guys to leave out their items as well!
As brides and grooms get ready for their big day with their bridesmaids and groomsmen, we try to capture all of the candid, unforgettable memories of the moments leading up to the exchange of vows. This time is exciting, joyful and emotional all at the same time.
We LOVE when a couple does a first look because it is the sweetest, most intimate moment to capture in a wedding day. Those moments are the only alone time that you have with your future spouse throughout your entire wedding day. When a couple chooses to do a first look, they never regret it and we get the sweetest pictures out of this time.
Individual Bridal Portraits & Groom Portraits:
Most women have dreamt of their wedding day since they were little girls, so by the time your big day comes, you deserve your special time alone in front of the camera. Every single one of our brides are absolutely beautiful, and we love the time that we get to spend photographing them on the day that they feel the most beautiful. In addition to bridal portraits, Michael loves doing individual photos of the groom. And might we say, our grooms are quite dapper!
Bridal Party Portraits:
You’ve got your favorite girls and he’s got his best guys and there is so much excitement! Bridal party portraits are some of our favorites because we know they the people you have chosen to surround you on your wedding day are treasures to you and have influenced your life in a positive, memorable way. Portrait time is a time to smile big and laugh with your closest friends that are there to celebrate with you.
The big moment is here! You are about to exchange vows and become husband and wife. Your heart is racing faster than it ever has, your palms are sweating and you can’t believe that this moment has finally arrived. It’s emotional, exciting and almost surreal. At the end of this ceremony, your life has changed forever.
Bride & Groom Portraits:
If you didn’t do a first look, these are your very first portraits as husband and wife. This time is joyful and so, so sweet. This section was SO hard to narrow down because we have so many portraits that we love, but these are just some of our favorites.
Rule #1: Always say yes to sunset portraits.
We love, love, love when couple’s go all out with their reception details. There is something about a cohesive wedding theme that makes the whole day just seem even more magical. It’s important to have your personality as a couple throughout your theme and some of our favorite details are because couple’s chose to incorporate important aspects of their relationship into their decorations.
First dances, cutting the cake and people having a good time on the dance floor are all key moments in a reception. This was another category that was difficult to narrow down because our brides and groom have had some super fun receptions. Here are a few of our favorites!
At the end of one of our favorite weddings of the year, Katelyn and Jimmy chose to do something we had never seen before. They asked all of their guests to go outside and get ready for their exit and then they had one last dance, alone, just the two of them. It was the SWEETEST thing we’d ever seen and I was in tears as I photographed their sweet last dance as their wedding day came to a close. 2017 couples, please do this! You won’t regret it!
Whether you have sparklers, bubbles or glow sticks, the grand exit is always a fun last hurrah for you and your wedding guests. And just like that, you’re off to start a brand new adventure as husband and wife.
Here’s to another amazing year! Bring on 2017!
Michael & Chelsea
