When we arrived at the Woman’s Club of Portsmouth, we could instantly feel the excitement. This day had been planned for months and months, and each decoration was intricately thought out down to the smallest of details. The day was finally here! Not only had it been a lengthy planning season, but Katelyn & Jimmy had been waiting and anticipating this day for over 8 years! As high school sweethearts, they truly grew up together over the years. They conquered dating through college, even though they chose to go to two different schools. They beat the odds and now they were hours away from being married! To say the anticipation was high was an understatement 🙂
As a lover of wedding day details, I was truly in awe at what Katelyn, Jimmy & their families had put together for their big day. It was beautiful, creamy, elegant, stunning, glowy, natural, golden, simple and yet, awe-worthy. And those are just a few words that come to mind! This wedding was stunning from beginning to end and I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that we got to capture it all for them! Katelyn & Jimmy have been such a wonderful couple to work with over these past few months as we did their engagement session and planned for their big day. Although a part of us is sad that it is all over, we are unbelievably happy for this sweet couple and the life they will build together.
Take a peek at our favorite images from their wedding day! We dare you to not Pin every single detail 😉
There were countless details that Katelyn and her family planned, but one of our favorite small details was the way she prepared her groom. From her sweet note to him on the bottom of his shoe to the patch on the back of his tie, it was quite obvious that Katelyn wanted Jimmy to feel like he was treasured on their big day.
Some of our favorite moments in a wedding day are when the bride and groom take time to exchange letters to one another. Katelyn and Jimmy read their last love notes as boyfriend and girlfriend and prepared to walk down the aisle.
Look at THIS bride! Katelyn was absolutely flawless! And I am convinced this venue was made specifically for her.
When Katelyn told me that she wanted this family heirloom photo to occur, I couldn’t wait to make it happen. The handkerchief below is the same handkerchief that her mother had wrapped around her bouquet as she walked down the aisle to marry Katelyn’s dad. Sweet heirlooms like this one melt my heart and I’m so glad we got to capture this for her.
Look at these beautiful families!
As the photographers who follow around the bridal party all day, we often feel like honorary members of the bridal party by the end of the night. This bridal party was so awesome and they made the day enjoyable, relaxing and incredibly fun!
Now for our favorite part…the first portraits as husband & wife!
Aren’t these two just the cutest??
On to the reception!
Father-daughter dances & mother-son dances will always and forever make me teary-eyed. Such precious moments to capture.
And now, we dance!
We love, love, love when couples break away from their reception to take a few sunset portraits with us. Although we know the only thing they are thinking about is getting back to dancing with their friends and family, we haven’t had a couple regret taking a few minutes away yet! I think Katelyn & Jimmy will agree it was worth the 5 minutes 😉
Katelyn & Jimmy chose to do something I had never seen before but that I LOVED.
The DJ announced that there were only 3 more songs left for the night and so their friends and family joined them on the dance floor for the last songs. Following the 2nd song, the DJ rallied everyone to head outside to prepare for the bride and groom to make their exit. As soon as all the guests were outside, the DJ came to me and said, “Okay, are you ready?” to which I replied, “For what?” thinking we should be walking toward the exit right now so they could depart. And he said, “For their last dance.” Katelyn leaned over to me and said, “We’re doing our last dance, just the two of us.”
I nearly became a puddle, right then and there.
I had never seen a couple choose to do their last dance privately, without any guests around. It was the sweetest thing I have ever witnessed and I’m still a little teary thinking about it again. What better way to end your wedding day than one last dance in the arms of the one whom your soul loves? Just you and them. No one else.
