When Scott & Katie asked us to photograph their wedding, we jumped up and down with excitement. After doing their engagement session last fall at Maymont Park in Richmond, VA, we could not contain ourselves! They are MAGNETIC. Their chemistry in their engagement photos is so clear to see and we knew that Katie would make the most beautiful bride.
As expected, Katie was flawless on her wedding day. Her dress (oh my goodness!) was stunning and she had such a calm and confident demeanor throughout the day that you could tell that Katie was at peace. She was ready to marry her groom. As her friends and family helped her prepare for the biggest day of her life, you could feel the love throughout the room. Her dear parents have prayed for a godly man for their daughter, and they got that with Scott. You can see by the way that Scott looks at Katie that he loves her like Christ loves the church. Their interactions, from their “first touch” to their sweet portraits as husband and wife, were so effortless to capture. Scott & Katie are sweet and wonderful individually, but they will make such an amazing lifelong team as husband and wife. We are so thankful we got to know them better throughout the last 9 months and to have captured their special day!
Scott & Katie had the sweetest “first touch” on their wedding day. After choosing to not see each other until the ceremony, they decided to exchange wedding day gifts from opposite sides of the door. These special moments are always our most favorite moments of any wedding day. It’s the moment everything gets very real for the bride & groom and they finally realize that they are just minutes away from becoming husband and wife!
Scott & Katie had their wedding ceremony at Aldersgate United Methodist Church and we loved the stained glass windows of this beautiful church.
We live to capture these tears! It’s so, so sweet to see a groom let himself be vulnerable in front of his bride. And the way Katie just held his face and comforted him was the sweetest thing to witness. Scott already knew he was a lucky man, but you can see in this moment that he realized he was just moments away from marrying the woman of his dreams.
Sweet congratulatory hugs from their families!
Look at this dashing bridal party!
First portraits of the new husband and wife! Our FAVORITE time of the day!
Katie is FLAWLESS!
Scott & Katie’s reception took place at the beautiful Town Point Club, overlooking the Waterside area of Downtown Norfolk, VA. The 3rd floor club of the World Trade Center made the perfect reception spot for this beautiful couple and their families to dance the night away.
Father-daughter dances and mother-son dances ALWAYS get me. And this sweet moment of Katie’s mom watching her dance with her daddy is probably one of our favorite moments we have ever captured at a wedding reception.
Y’all, we don’t usually share photos like this on the blog, but we were floored that Scott & Katie went around the room, table-to-table, and greeted each and every person who was at their reception. I feel like every bride & groom try hard to make their rounds and say a brief hello to everyone, but Scott & Katie really did say hello to each individual present. It really shows how genuine and kind these two are!
And now, we dance!
Although we normally don’t share this many images from a reception, not all receptions are as fun as this one was! I’ve never seen so many people stay on a dance floor all night long. This party crew does not stop!
The toasts from Scott & Katie’s friends and family were so sweet. It was made obvious that they are so loved and have been prayed over for all their lives for this very special day.
The bridal party surprised their guests with a special choreographed dance and it was AWESOME! I wish we had a video to show you guys because they really set the bar high for all future wedding party’s we photograph!
Once the night came to an end, Scott & Katie departed with a sparkler exit!
Congratulations, Scott & Katie!
